Job Summary and Responsibilities The Senior Pathology Assistant provides support for the Anatomic Pathology and Cytology sections of the Laboratory.
Duties include:
- Pathologists in the collection of specimens in Bone Marrow exams and autopsies.
- Provide clerical functions and technical functions under the supervision of the Pathologists.
- Provide assistance for related tasks including stocking of supplies, cleaning equipment, record handling and storage, specimen handling, storage and disposal, and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements - At least 2 years experience in a laboratory environment as either a Pathology Assistant or Laboratory Assistant familiar with handling biological material.
- Previous experience in an acute care hospital is preferred.
- Training is provided by the department specific to the work tasks needing to be done.
- Must have good oral communication skills and be able to interact with Pathologist, physicians, nursing personnel and the public as required.
- Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.
- Must have a working knowledge of laboratory operations and familiarity with specimen handling processes, previous pathology experience is preferred.
- Must be computer literate.
