Job Description

HCA Healthcare is seeking a PRN RN Emergency Room nurse to join our dynamic Healthcare & Medical Services team. As a PRN ER nurse, you will provide high‑quality, patient‑centered care in a fast‑paced emergency department, supporting our mission to deliver compassionate, evidence‑based healthcare to the communities we serve. Working within our Healthcare & Medical Services department, you will care for patients across the lifespan, from pediatric to geriatric, presenting with a wide range of emergent and urgent conditions. In this role, you will perform rapid assessments and triage of patients as they arrive to the emergency room, identifying and prioritizing life‑threatening conditions while ensuring timely interventions. You will deliver direct bedside care, including monitoring vital signs, initiating IV lines, administering medications and treatments, assisting with procedures, and closely observing patient responses. You will collaborate closely with emergency physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, technicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans that align with best practices and clinical protocols. You will operate and manage emergency equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, oxygen delivery systems, and infusion pumps, adhering strictly to safety and quality standards. Accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record is essential, including assessments, interventions, patient education, and changes in condition. You will play a key role in patient and family education, explaining diagnoses, procedures, medications, and discharge instructions in a clear and compassionate manner to support safe transitions of care. As part of HCA Healthcare, you will be immersed in a culture that values compassion, teamwork, integrity, and continuous learning. You will participate in ongoing education, skills training, and quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and support your professional growth. You will respond to emergencies and codes, applying BLS, ACLS, and PALS guidelines, while following facility policies and evidence‑based practices. Infection prevention, patient safety, and adherence to regulatory standards will be central to your daily practice. This PRN position offers flexible scheduling to meet both departmental needs and your work‑life balance, including the opportunity to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required in a 24/7 emergency setting. While PRN, you will have access to HCA Healthcare’s broad network, resources, and professional development opportunities, giving you the chance to expand your emergency nursing skills and pursue various career pathways within one of the nation’s leading healthcare organizations. HCA Healthcare, headquartered in Nashville, TN, operates hospitals, urgent care centers, and a variety of healthcare facilities across the United States and the United Kingdom. Joining our emergency department team means becoming part of an organization that prioritizes patient‑centered care and empowers nurses to make a meaningful impact on patients, families, and communities every day. If you are a compassionate, resilient RN with strong critical thinking skills and a passion for emergency care, we invite you to bring your expertise and dedication to our team as a PRN RN Emergency Room nurse.
