HCA Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and skilled PRN RN Emergency Room nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this PRN role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals of all ages presenting to our emergency department with a wide range of conditions, from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies. You will work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment where your clinical expertise, sound judgment, and ability to remain calm under pressure are essential to delivering safe, effective, and timely care. As a PRN RN in the emergency room, you will perform rapid assessments and triage, prioritizing patients based on acuity and implementing appropriate nursing interventions. You will administer medications, treatments, and therapies according to provider orders and hospital policies, closely monitor and interpret vital signs and cardiac rhythms, and respond promptly to any changes in patient condition. You will participate in emergency response situations, including codes and trauma activations, and support airway management, basic trauma care, and other critical interventions as part of an interdisciplinary team. Collaboration is central to this role. You will work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, technicians, and other members of the care team to develop and implement individualized care plans that reflect HCA Healthcare’s commitment to patient-centered care. You will communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families, providing education about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care while offering emotional support during what is often a stressful and uncertain time. Accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record is a key responsibility, including assessments, interventions, medication administration, patient responses, and coordination of care. You will help support efficient department flow by assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges, and by coordinating with ancillary departments such as laboratory, imaging, and transport. Throughout your practice, you will adhere to infection prevention protocols, safety standards, and quality initiatives designed to promote optimal outcomes and a safe environment for patients, families, and staff. The ideal candidate for this PRN ER RN position is a licensed Registered Nurse with prior emergency or acute care experience, strong assessment and critical-thinking skills, and the ability to prioritize effectively in a dynamic setting.
