Overview To prepare and distribute routine dosage orders. Prepackage pharmaceuticals, and prepare sterile compounds as directed. To measure, mix, count, label, and record amounts of dosages and prescriptions. Assist pharmacist in the dispensing of prescriptions. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of procedures and standards for the labeling and dispensing of prescribed medications. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers. Responsibilities Assists in the preparation and dispensing of prescriptions; counts, packages, and labels dosages. Prices and files prescriptions. Adds measured drugs or nutrients to intravenous solutions under sterile conditions to prepare intravenous (IV) packs under supervision. Participation in regulatory documentation and daily processes specific to area. Maintains appropriate stock levels and informs supervisor of stock needs and shortages. cleans and helps maintain equipment and work area per established procedures. Accesses patient profiles and electronic health record as needed to accomplish assigned tasks. Participates in medication related charge documentation and submission activities.
