Job Description
Microbiology Technician position located at 11585 K-Tel Dr, Minnetonka, MN 55343, USA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
Write identification onto plates so client and sample numbers can be tracked.
Pipette sample solution into tubes or plates according to the analysis process being performed.
Pour agar into plates or tubes to begin the growth process.
Collect plates and place them in the incubator for the specified time and temperature.
Prepare media and broth for use in pathogen testing as required.
Ensure that media and materials are prepared for the next testing sequence.
Maintain knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) required to complete job responsibilities.
Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
Read plates and tubes to determine the number of organisms in the sample.
Support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes.
Perform housekeeping duties, keeping work areas and equipment clean and sanitized.
Participate in cleaning schedules and maintain required samples.
Adhere to all safety policies.
Support laboratory management in implementing, maintaining, and improving the management system.
Perform other related tasks as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
HS Diploma and at least 1 year of relevant work experience. Basic knowledge of science, personal computers, laboratory safety procedures, and planning skills are required.
Time management skills and ability to prioritize samples and tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
Attention to detail and analytical skills essential for determining microorganism concentrations.
General knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System is required.
Physical dexterity needed to manipulate samples.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials. Safety equipment such as gloves, laboratory coat, and eyeglasses may be required. The incumbent may use an autoclave daily and lift materials up to 50 pounds. The role involves extended standing time and requires detecting slight variations in shade colors.
COMPENSATION
$19.50 hourly USD.
