Chief - Section of Maternal Fetal Medicine

Salary Range: Associate Professor: $442,311 - $482,311 per year. Professor: $443,173 - $503,173 per year

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Chicago is searching for a full-time faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor on the School of Medicine track to serve as Section Chief for Maternal Fetal Medicine. The appointee will participate in the maintenance and further development of the perinatal referral network and will be expected to maintain good working relationships with community-based physicians, referring physicians, and hospitals, and participate in the outreach efforts of the University of Chicago Medical Center.

The Section Chief will also be responsible for further developing innovative research programs that leverage collaboration with existing university and community partners and support the growth of the Biological Sciences Division’s grant portfolio. Additional duties will include, but are not limited to, strategy, budget, and planning oversight of the Section’s revenues, expenses, and faculty compensation plan, as well as management of annual performance metrics. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows, and scholarly activity. In summary, the Section Chief will provide strategic, innovative, and operational leadership and will be responsible for the Section's clinical, educational, and research performance. 

Clinical responsibilities include reading ultrasound, attending on the clinical MFM service, consults, and outpatient clinic. The candidate may choose to participate in the coverage of Labor & Delivery. The Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Section is situated in state-of-the-art facilities on the University of Chicago medical campus in the Hyde Park neighborhood. The Section leads the Perinatal Program for 15 regional hospitals and provides substantial academic and clinical services to the area. The Section strategically enhances our High-Risk Pregnancy Program, actively collaborating with the Section of General Obstetrics and Gynecology and our Midwives, as well as other departments, including Anesthesiology, Pediatrics (Neonatology, Pediatric Cardiology), Endocrinology, and Cardiology. The Section Chief supports a collaborative culture that allows a comprehensive, patient-oriented approach to the care we provide.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) have completed an accredited fellowship in MFM, or have equivalent experience, and 4) be Board certified, or eligible for Board certification, in MFM.
